MARSEILLE, FRANCE 4th JULY, 2018: Today sees the launch of PUMA Football’s partnership with OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE as the club’s worldwide kit provider.
Olympique de Marseille is one of the world’s most famous clubs, and revels in the support of its enthusiastic and passionate supporters. With 119 years of history, it has 32 major trophies to its credit, including the Champions LeagueÔ in 1993 and their new owner, Frank McCourt wants to build on this taking the club to New Levels of success in both French and European competitions.
To accompany the launch of the three kits released today, PUMA Football revealed a video that envisions an oceanic anarchic future that symbolizes the determination and eagerness of Olympique de Marseille to do battle in the coming season. Like the shirt design, it is inspired by the sea. Like the supporters of the club, it lights up the stadium with passion and ferocity.
The video was produced by Brieuc Dupont and Clément Langlais, and stars international French defender and PUMA athlete Adil Rami whilst also featuring Alonzo, the iconic Marseille born rapper who provides the voiceover.
When PUMA Football announced the partnership with Olympique de Marseille during their street marketing campaign in March of 2017, they promised they would bring Diego Maradona to the city (this was a reference to him nearly joining the club in 1989, causing mass hysteria with the fans, he has been a legend for them ever since). PUMA has stayed true to this promise and the legend can be spotted arriving on the shores of the city during the video.
The PUMA x OM adventure can now begin.
One of the strongest elements of the PUMA Football and Olympique de Marseille 2018-19 range is the inspiration of the sea as the point of convergence towards the city of Marseille. The home shirt is the very essence of this inspiration.
The shirts are made using PUMA’s ultra-sophisticated evoKNIT thermoregulating technology. This moisture-control system features an adaptive cooling system to help maintain the perfect body temperature on the pitch. Its seamless construction means that the new kit offers the ultimate in comfort and mobility helping to deliver optimum results.
All of these collections will be on sale from tomorrow.
