Watching out for cybersecurity amid 5G build−up

Release Date: 12 Mar 2019   |   Bruxelles,Belgium
As countries prepare to roll out 5G mobile Internet, the European Union needs to be watchful of cybersecurity threats, says EPP Group MEP Luděk Niedermayer. There are concerns about the Chinese company Huawei’s involvement in supplying 5G mobile equipment. Niedermayer says EU countries should be wary of being overly dependent on non-EU suppliers. He noted that the EU’s new Cybersecurity Act, pooling efforts across the European Union, will help address security concerns.
