Statement on what LNG is used for and what benefits it offers
Liquefied natural gas or LNG is much the same composition as the natural gas we receive to our homes in the UK. The major difference is that we cryogenically cool it in order to store it as a liquid. As a liquid it occupies a smaller volume and also can be stored at much lower pressure than it would do as a gas. It's attractive as an HDV fuel for two reasons. Firstly per mile it produced less CO2 and less pollutant than gasoline or diesel. And in addition to this in the UK due to tax incentives and also due to security of supply we can offer significant cost reductions versus diesel or petrol."
