Post−Brexit talks − future EU−UK ties − possibly in 2018, says Barnier

Release Date: 13 Sep 2017
With little progress in the Brexit talks, EU Chief Negotiator Michel Barnier says the second phase of negotiations focusing on a trade accord and other future ties may not begin until early next year. The rights of millions of EU and UK citizens remains the top priority, Barnier says, speaking at the European Parliament’s Pan-European Working Group. The working group’s Chair, Paul Rübig of the EPP Group, says with Brexit, there is worry about the stability of internal UK relations after Brexit, regarding Northern Ireland and other UK members.
