Release Date: 24 Oct 2012
Mail In Your Old Jeans – Recycling program Give Denim "New-Life"

The average American owns seven pairs of jeans. And with all the different styles to choose from – skinny, boot cut, flared, wide-leg – it comes as no surprise. But many of them are discarded each year, and many end up in overflowing landfills.

That's why it's important to donate your old jeans when they don't fit anymore or go out of style. The "Cotton. From Blue to Green™" national denim drive turns old jeans into insulation. People from around the nation can now send in their denim which will be given a "new life" by being converted to UltraTouch Denim insulation.

In addition to working with the mail-in program, the denim recycling program continues to gain momentum by partnering with colleges, consumers and corporate responsibility programs throughout the nation. All denim collected through the "Cotton. From Blue to Green™" program is recycled into UltraTouch™ Denim Insulation, and a portion of this insulation, up to approximately 250,000 square feet, will be distributed in 2013 to communities in need. (mainly habitat for Humanity affiliates.

To date, the "Cotton. From Blue to Green™" program has received nearly 850,000 pieces of denim, resulting in over 1.7 million square feet of insulation. That's approximately 531 tons of denim diverted from landfills.
