SEAT to hire 100 employees

Release Date: 04 Dec 2015
Martorell, 03/12/2015 - SEAT will hire 100 workers at the Martorell plant beginning on January 2016. The employees, who are currently working for the company through temporary placement agencies, will be added to deal with next year's daily production needs. The new recruitments could rise to 160 by May, depending on developments in business activity.

SEAT will close 2015 with 350 new job placements, including 100 engineers hired at the SEAT Technical Centre and 48 young graduates of the company's dual vocational training school.

SEAT Executive Vice-president for Human Resources Xavier Ros pointed out that "the sales success enjoyed by the brand since 2013 and the evolution of the Audi Q3 are excellent news for all the employees and are enabling us to generate more employment. In the last two years we have hired 750 new employees and have created around 3,000 jobs among our suppliers".

SEAT will review the remaining contracts on a monthly basis of personnel hired through temporary placement agencies according to production needs, a formula used by the company exclusively as a flexibility measure to meet the demands of market adjustments.

The Martorell plant is the facility that produces the highest volume of vehicles in Spain. From January to November this year, production went up by 8.3% and a total of 450,415 vehicles were manufactured, 34,795 more than during the same period last year. After six consecutive years of growth, production in Martorell has reached its highest levels since 2002.

Three models are currently being manufactured in Martorell - Ibiza (Line 1), Leon (Line 2) and Audi Q3 (Line 3). Line 1 has two production shifts, while Lines 2 and 3 each have three. Furthermore, 53 additional weekend shifts have been established throughout 2015 to respond to the production increase over the initial estimate.
