adidas today reveals El Último Tango, a special-edition collection created to honor Lionel Messi’s final appearance on football’s biggest stage. Twenty years after making his FIFA World Cup debut in 2006, the collection celebrates the journey of the greatest of all time with a tribute to the iconic moments, memories and milestones shared between Messi and adidas across two decades.
Inspired by the legendary F50.6 TUNIT lace-cover boots worn during the early years of Messi’s rise, El Último Tango reimagines one of football’s most iconic silhouettes through a modern lens. The iridescent white-and-blue design reflects Argentina’s colors while nodding to the legacy of the F50 era that helped define a generation of football.
Alongside the boot, adidas introduces a matching apparel range featuring a commemorative tee inspired by the Argentina home shirts worn by Messi throughout all six FIFA World Cup tournaments of his career.
To launch the collection, adidas and Messi look back at unforgettable moments across five World Cups - revisiting the evolution of the F50 franchise, Argentina kits, official tournament match balls, iconic goals, emotional celebrations and the journey that ultimately led to football’s greatest achievement.
El Último Tango represents both a celebration of the past and a tribute to one final performance on the world stage — honoring a player whose legacy has transcended generations and redefined greatness in football.
Alongside the boots, the collection also includes performance and lifestyle apparel, as well as accessories for both adults and kids. adidas additionally introduces a commemorative tee inspired by the Argentina home shirts worn by Messi throughout all six FIFA World Cup tournaments of his career.
The adidas El Último Tango collection will be available from today at selected retail stores and online at Lionel Messi Clothes & Shoes.
