Today, adidas unveils CLIMACOOL+, a new fabric innovation engineered to help athletes perform in warm and humid conditions. This comes as the brand introduces the London Collection, a new generation of performance apparel for the 2026 grass court tennis season, as well as bespoke looks designed specifically for adidas athletes competing this summer.
Introducing CLIMACOOL+ Fabric Innovation
Developed through athlete insight, physiological testing, and sport-specific performance analysis, CLIMACOOL+ represents adidas’ most advanced innovation within its CLIMA system to date; helping athletes stay cool, dry and mobile when heat, humidity, sweat, and intensity collide.
At the centre of the material innovation is a new 3D body-mapped embossed fabric construction, introducing raised structures that create a physical gap between skin and garment where air circulates, enabling airflow and supporting sweat evaporation like never before in the sport. Unlike traditional flat performance garments, the embossed elements are engineered to maximize airflow without trapping heat, helping reduce wet cling and discomfort during high-intensity play.
The structures are strategically mapped to areas where tennis players experience the greatest heat and sweat buildup, including the chest, upper abdomen, shoulders and upper back, identified through physiological data capture and adidas climate chamber testing.
Built to solve a clear athlete challenge, CLIMACOOL+ was developed to combat the performance impact of competing in increasingly intense conditions, where sweat buildup and fabric sticking can become restrictive and distracting. Testing conducted within the adidas climate chamber and sport-specific field environments monitored key metrics such as skin temperature, humidity between skin and garment, airflow perception, and garment sticking during movement. Athletes reported increased airflow, reduced cling and greater freedom to move throughout competition.
“CLIMACOOL+ is a cooling innovation you can both see and feel,” said Margherita Raccuglia, Director of Athlete Performance, adidas. “Most ventilation-based technologies focus only on fabric. CLIMACOOL+ changes the structure of the garment itself, creating airflow exactly where athletes need it most. This offers performance benefits born directly from athlete insight, including Sebastian Sawe, who ran his record-breaking Sub-two-hour marathon in a singlet featuring the technology.”
The fabric innovation and broader CLIMACOOL+ and CLIMACOOL technologies will debut on court this summer in select pieces worn by Felix Auger-Aliassime, Karolina Muchova, Maria Sakkari, Elina Svitolina, and Alexander Zverev. Each athlete will wear a silhouette made bespoke for them – including a tank, dress, Freelift Tee and Polo, that introduces a futuristic design to the famous London grass courts.
Available within the London Collection
CLIMACOOL+ will also be integrated into select pieces from the London Collection, available in limited quantities to consumers this summer. Blending classic tennis design codes with the same futuristic detailing seen in the athlete-only pieces, the range combines 80s- and 90s-inspired body-contouring, V-cut necklines and signature adidas three-stripe detailing with metallic silver accents; all cut with a seam-free, bonded finish for flexibility, comfort and a modern silhouette.
The collection incorporates CLIMACOOL and CLIMACOOL+ technologies across silhouettes, including strategically placed mesh panels to optimize airflow, laser-cut perforations in high sweat zones, and underarm FreeLift construction to support range of motion.
Designed for both elite athletes, everyday players, and fans, the London Collection signals the beginning of a new visual and performance language for adidas in tennis that will continue to shape future ranges across several adidas sports apparel from summer 2026 onwards.
The adidas London Collection will be available globally from adidas.com and via the adidas app.
