Boosting research and innovation in Europe beyond 2020
Release Date: 21 November 2018
The European Parliament’s Industry, Research and Energy Committee has approved two reports on Horizon Europe, a major EU research and innovation programme.
Horizon Europe is about ensuring that Europe remains highly competitive in terms of its scientific knowledge and industrial applications of that knowledge - leading to job creation and economic growth.
The aim is for the programme to take over from the existing Horizon 2020 Programme and to be up and running in 2021.
EPP Group MEP Christian Ehler, who drafted one of the two reports, explained why Horizon Europe is so important for EU citizens.
