Coronavirus, Migration, Industry, Africa Strategy

Release Date: 12 Mar 2020

At the latest European Parliament plenary, the EPP Group called for more EU coordination to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus and deal with its economic impact. The Group backed more help for Greece and rejected attempts by Turkey to blackmail the EU into providing more funding by allowing migrants to mass at the Greek border. EPP Group Chairman Manfred Weber says the EU is ready to discuss a new migration agreement with Turkey, but at the negotiating table. The Group also supported a stronger Industrial Strategy to shift toward decarbonisation, and a new Africa Strategy to help countries that share democratic values with the European Union.
