(FILA Argentina) – Over 7000 runners and participants took to the streets of Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires this past Sunday for a memorable seventh installment of FILA Argentina's annual 10k race.
No amount of rain could deter the excited crowd of 7,000 runners and participants at FILA’s “Live to Run” 10k in Buenos Aires, Argentina this past Sunday. Under cloudy skies, runners of all ages took their marks at 8:30AM before taking off through the circuit's scenic route through the heart of Puerto Madero. The race concluded at a vendor area that featured live music, entertainment, and awards.
Maria Ovejero took first place in the women’s category, completing the 10-kilometer circuit with a time of 35:06. FILA athlete and Olympic qualifier Viviana Chavez took a close second place with a time of 35:30, and Lujan Urrtia rounded out the top three spots with a time of 35:49. On the men’s side, the top prize went to Augustin Cichiltti, who finished the race in 30:21. Gustavo Fernandez earned a second place finish with a time of 30:48, followed by Ulises Sanguinetti with a time of 31:00.
In addition to promoting general fitness, the annual FILA Race also doubles as a charity event. This year, a percentage of the proceeds went to support the Hospice San Camilo, Asemco, and Granos de Mostaza – three local NGOs with whom FILA Argentina is closely associated.
“We are very proud of this race,” said Mayca Gowland, Sports Marketing Manager at DASS. “This event has been growing year after year and is positioning itself to be one of the best 10k races. I would like to thank all those who joined us today, despite the weather, and we hope to meet again in next year’s eighth edition.”
Once again, FILA has reaffirmed its commitment to the running category.
