Frankfurt, Germany, 13 August 2026: Genesis is launching into a new era of ‘Luxury High Performance’ with the all-electric GV60 Magma. With its elevated performance identity, the car has been engineered to enhance every aspect of the driving experience, with a particular focus on powertrain upgrades, chassis development and immersive driver engagement. Honed on the track as well as the road, GV60 Magma seamlessly integrates dynamic capability with the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design philosophy.
Powertrain Development
Building on the signature GV60, GV60 Magma benefits from extensive enhancements to the powertrain, including upgraded electric motors that spin to over 20,000rpm and deliver a maximum torque output of 790Nm and a peak power of 650 PS. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h [0 to 62mph] takes just 3.4 seconds, 0 to 200km/h [0 to 124mph] in just 10.9 seconds, and onto a top speed of 264 km/h [164mph].
The new Magma model features a specially developed e-ASD (electric Active Sound Design) that uses the audio system to deliver either a futuristic EV soundscape or a high-revving engine-inspired soundtrack. Working in complete harmony with the Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) system, it delivers authentic feedback that matches the car’s highly evolved dynamics. By using bespoke components and unique software, GV60 Magma assists the driver to deliver a rewarding and engaging driving experience.
“Performance, in my eyes, always is the torque and power output of the propulsion system, the driveline,” explained Manfred Harrer, President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s R&D Division. “One thing is acceleration capability, another is top speed. But, what is really important is the controllability, the preciseness, the confidence in the car. You need to be able to control this high performance level. And this is the philosophy, from an engineering standpoint: the essence is preciseness, the controllability of these powerful engines, of these powerful cars.”
Ride and Handling
At the heart of GV60 is a state-of-the-art torque vectoring system, designed to ensure the car’s movements remain predictable and intuitive, even under extreme driving conditions. This is achieved through the seamless integration of its dual electric motors, an electronic Limited-Slip Differential (e-LSD), electronic stability control and specially developed braking system.

By actively distributing torque between the front and rear motors to reduce understeer and oversteer, it promotes fluid, balanced cornering behaviour. Depending on the drive mode or the driving conditions, GV60 Magma sends up to 65% of the available torque to either the front or rear axle. In addition, the rear-mounted e-LSD optimises the tyre grip of the inner and outer wheels as cornering loads change, while a brake-based torque vectoring system faithfully translates the driver’s steering inputs even during sharp cornering.
The e-LSD also allows a new Drift Mode that employs a drift-specific torque vectoring logic and a unique acceleration map. When engaged, the system induces natural, sustained oversteer, allowing the driver to more easily maintain the vehicle’s attitude during a drift.
Bespoke suspension
GV60 Magma features completely reimagined next-gen suspension geometry. To promote enhanced agility and precision, engineers have redesigned many of the parts of the car directly linked to the wheels, including the lower arms, hub carriers and link structures.

In addition, GV60 Magma’s roll centre has been significantly lowered compared to the current GV60 – from 122.3 to 41.6mm at the front, and from 169.6 to 80.1mm at the rear. This change maximises tyre grip during high-performance driving. In addition, the caster angle has increased by 16mm and arm length by 2mm, enhancing both steering feel and straight-line stability. These changes also increase vertical load on the tyre by 10% and cornering forces by over 18%, enhancing lateral grip.
Additional enhancements include the End-of-Travel (EoT) system which detects roll angles and instantly adjusts damping, refining cornering precision and stability. The front axle incorporates Hydro G-bushings for sharper steering responsiveness. Dual-layer member bushings in the rear enable separate control of vertical and longitudinal vibrations.
To make the most of these changes, GV60 Magma features ultra-wide 275 section fifth generation Pirelli P-Zero tyres fitted to special lightweight forged 21-inch wheels that reduce unsprung mass for superior ride comfort and handling response. The car also offers a stronger hub carrier design and an increase in the overall track.
Finally, GV60 Magma's body has been further strengthened to deliver outstanding handling accuracy. With an additional 0.65m of structural adhesive, 20 extra welding points and L-brackets integrated within the wheel housings, torsional rigidity has been improved by 9.7%.
Supreme Stopping Power
GV60 Magma is equipped with a unique braking system, complete with optimised regenerative braking control, equal to the demands of its high-output powertrain. Large 400mm disc brakes, monoblock callipers and high-performance Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) work together to produce enough stopping power to bring the car to halt from 100km/h [62mph] in just 33.8m.
This is achieved by maximising the use of regenerative braking from both front and rear wheels, even during intense braking or ABS activation, which also effectively combats brake fade.
For ultimate involvement, drivers can select their preferred braking feel. Comfort Mode provides a smooth, linear response with a softer initial response for everyday driving, while Sport Mode delivers instant reaction to pedal pressure and increases hydraulic control for immediate, powerful responsiveness suited for the track. Braking power is also increased by approximately 15 percent at high speeds in Sport Mode, delivering an enhanced level of confidence and control.
“In a very short period of time, our engineers achieved something truly remarkable,” said Harrer. “They created a car that is not only fast, but truly Genesis; a car that inspires confidence and provides a true emotional connection.”
