With the arrival of GV60 Magma and Genesis Magma Racing's entry into the WEC, we’re excited to start our new high-performance chapter in Europe.”

On the road to European expansion

With more than 30 years of strategic and commercial automotive experience, Peter Kronschnabl was appointed European Managing Director in August to drive Genesis’s next chapter of growth in the region.

The brand also announced plans to expand into four new European markets: France, Italy, Spain and The Netherlands. These new markets mark a significant step for the brand in the region and will begin operating early this year, with more details to be announced soon.

The path to an electrified future

Genesis defined its product direction by moving to a fully electrified product portfolio in Europe. The comprehensively enhanced GV60, Electrified GV70 and Electrified G80 complete Genesis’ refined electrified model line-up in Europe in 2026. All three cars have been restyled and revised with increased range, upgraded battery performance and elevated levels of equipment, adding to their already exceptional specifications. Furthermore, in response to changes in consumer preferences throughout Europe, Genesis also announced plans to broaden its powertrain offering, with hybrid models to be introduced from 2027.

GV60 Magma World Premiere: A bold new chapter

In November, Genesis unveiled GV60 Magma, its first high-performance production model, signalling a clear direction for the next decade. Revealed at the home of Genesis Magma Racing at Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet, the debut set the tone for a bold new chapter of design-driven performance.

Balancing form and function, GV60 Magma elevates the brand’s first dedicated electric model with enhanced design and a new level of driver engagement. The unveiling was accompanied by the Magma GT Concept and G90 Wingback Concept.

A thrilling tournament at the Genesis Scottish Open

Genesis continued its title sponsorship of the Scottish Open for its fourth year. Golf enthusiasts enjoyed thrilling sportsmanship and the opportunity to explore the Genesis models and the brand’s Son-Nim hospitality. The tournament hosted an unforgettable moment with Chris Gotterup securing a dramatic victory, just two shots ahead of his nearest challengers.

Test drives, debuts and design-driven performance at IAA Mobility Show

At IAA Mobility, Genesis showcased its electrified line-up through an activation at the Munich Studio, with a clear focus on performance-led design and product innovation. The enhanced GV60 made its German debut, showcasing its range of design, technology and specification updates, while GV60 Magma Concept and GMR-001 were also on display and leading European executives outlined the vision for the brand.

Unveiling of HMETC ‘Square Campus’

As part of continued investment in Europe by the Hyundai Motor Group, Genesis, Hyundai and Kia came together to launch Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Centre’s new €150m ‘Square Campus’ facility.  Located in Russelsheim, this new space demonstrates the brand’s commitment to European innovation and engineering excellence, which will play a vital role in the development of future models for Genesis and the wider Group.

Awards

Genesis celebrated multiple design and performance accolades throughout the year. In July, the brand took three wins at the Red Dot Awards. X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible were recognised in the Cars and Motorcycles Category, and X Gran Equator for its electric off-roader concept.

September brought further success, with Electrified G80 winning ‘Best Import’ in the upper mid-range category at the Company Car of the Year awards in Germany, while GV60 Sport Plus was named class winner in the Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year awards in the UK.

The year concluded with Electrified GV70 securing ‘Premium Car of the Year’ at the 2025 Scottish Car of the Year in November, marking the second title awarded to the model by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.

A host of motorsport activity

Genesis established its motorsport ambitions with a series of announcements, tests and reveals throughout 2025. Marking significant milestone for the Genesis Magma Racing (GMR) team, the full scale GMR-001 Hypercar and team identity was unveiled in April as part a global reveal at the New York International Auto Show.

In 2025, the team also joined the European Le Mans Series, competing with drivers Jamie Chadwick, Mathys Jaubert and Daniel Juncadella in partnership with IDEC Sport. Highlights included three wins (Barcelona, Le Castellet, Silverstone) and a podium finish in Portimão, securing third place in the LMP2 Championship.
