Help for the Roma is help for Europe

The EPP Group releases a position paper this week, which calls for stronger action to integrate millions of ethnic Roma into the EU economy, saying the past 10 years of policy have failed. The paper wants better infrastructure to ensure that Roma have access to education, safe drinking water and sanitary services. It calls for new action to help Roma women and girls, and incentives for businesses to hire Roma. The paper wants to focus on results, on target areas with large Roma communities and to fight stereotypes through awareness-raising among the public. The EPP Group´s Slovak Roma MEP Peter Pollák is also a government representative for Roma Communities in Slovakia.
