Horizon 2020 Funding to Fight Brian Drain and Create Jobs in Southern Europe

Release Date: 20 Feb 2014   |   Brussels, Belgium
The European Union has made a big wager: that research and development will be a key driver of Europe's economy. Horizon 2020 and its €80 billion over 7 years can help to fight the brain drain and high unemployment in southern Europe, an EPP Group hearing says.

At this European Parliament hearing, MEPs exchanged ideas with academics on how Horizon 2020 can boost struggling economies in Southern Europe. They discussed new opportunities and tools the program, and the European Investment Bank, are providing to help those member states develop their research and innovation potential. Available material includes an edited package.
