Italy complete dominant display in the Luge at Winter Youth Olympics Gangwon 2024 with Gold in the Team Relay

23 January 2024 - Italy’s incredible domination of the luge events at Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG) Gangwon 2024 continued in the final event as they won the Mixed Team Event, their fourth gold out of five available in the sport.

With all four of the team gold medallists, it was no surprise they finished top of the podium again, and their winning time was almost a second ahead of silver medallists Latvia, while Austria took bronze.

The team relay is a mixed event. For Italy, women’s individual silver medallist and doubles gold medallist Alexandra Oberstolz led off, she was followed by men’s singles gold winner Leon Haselrieder and then it was over to men’s doubles gold medallists Phillipp Brunner and Manuel Weissensteiner to bring home team gold.

Gangwon 2024 runs until 1 February, with more than 1,800 athletes from 78 NOCs taking part. The Winter Youth Olympic Games is filmed for live television and digital streaming on the Olympic Channel via Olympics.com and the Olympics app, with full session replays and highlights also available.
