Kia Motors posts global sales of 205,126 vehicles in January

Release Date: 01 Feb 2018
Kia Motors Corporation announced its January 2018 global sales figures for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles, recording a total of 205,126 units sold, increasing 5.2% from 2017.

In January, sales in Korea totaled 39,105 units, representing an increase of 11.7% compared with the same month last year, largely due to rising sales of Ray which was revealed its product enhancement model last December.

The company’s overseas sales also increased by 3.8% compared to the previous year, posting 166,021 units on strong sales of Rio (known as ‘Pride’ in Korea) and Picanto (known as ‘Morning’ in Korea). Newly launched Stinger and Stonic also contributed to the sales growth.

Kia’s best-selling model in overseas markets during January 2018 was the Sportage compact SUV with 35,583 units sold. The Rio was the second best seller with 29,811 units sold, followed by the K3 compact sedan (known as ‘Forte’ in some markets) with 24,658 units sold.
