Kia Unveils EV2 at Brussels Motor Show

Kia Corporation today unveiled the EV2 at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, marking the global premiere of a compact electric SUV designed to make electric mobility more emotional, intuitive and accessible.

Revealed under the theme “The Power of Firsts”, the Kia EV2 introduces Kia’s vision for a new entry point to electric mobility — compact in size, yet delivering a space-rich, emotionally engaging experience designed around everyday urban life.

Alongside the EV2, Kia also revealed the EV2 GT Line and introduced the latest electric GT models — EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT and EV5 GT — underscoring the brand’s commitment to both accessible electrification and engaging performance.

The EV2 plays a strategic role within Kia’s expanding electric vehicle (EV) portfolio. As the most compact electric SUV in the lineup, it is designed as a gateway model for first-time EV drivers  and new Kia buyers, while remaining versatile enough to serve as a primary household vehicle — easy to live with, yet emotionally rewarding.

Developed under Kia’s Opposites United design philosophy, the EV2 combines a compact footprint with confident proportions and a clear SUV identity. Its upright stance, strong shoulder line and pronounced wheel arches give it a solid road presence, while vertical lighting elements and Kia’s latest Star Map signature create a distinctive modern face.

Clean, solid front volumes communicate clarity and advanced EV technology, with robust lower graphics emphasizing all-round capability for city living or spontaneous escapes.

From the side, the spacious cabin profile and technical shoulder lines create a straight, confident silhouette, supported by geometric wheel arches, a sharply defined DLO and solid fender design that convey durability and refinement.

At the rear, tail lamps positioned at the outer edges emphasize width, while sculpted surfaces and technical corner forms deliver a memorable signature.

The EV2 GT-Line further enhances this character with a more expressive, lifestyle-focused interpretation. Model-exclusive front and rear bumpers, body-colored garnishes, side-sill details and dedicated wheels amplify the EV2’s confident stance while delivering a subtly more premium and adventurous look — ideal for customers who want a vehicle that reflects active urban living and weekend exploration.

Interior, The “Picnic Box”

Despite being the most compact EV in Kia’s line-up, the EV2 delivers one of its most expressive interiors, defined by the idea of a “Picnic Box” — a cozy personal space that offers a moment of calm within the rhythm of city life, supported by a solid, durable foundation.

A wraparound crash pad seamlessly integrates the panoramic wide display — combining a 12.3-inch cluster, 5-inch climate panel, and 12.3-inch infotainment screen — while horizontal design elements enhance visual width and openness. Fabric-rich materials boost tactile comfort and add warmth. 

Ambient lighting stretches across the cabin and synchronizes with turn signals to provide both reassurance and intuitive driver support. Physical controls are organized by frequency of use for intuitive, distraction-reduced operation.

Thoughtful storage solutions — including a flexible lower console, wireless charging tray, adjustable cup holders and separated door armrest architecture — demonstrate efficient use of space without compromise.

Urban-Optimized Performance and Intuitive EV Experience

The EV2 is engineered for everyday city driving, delivering efficient electric performance, agile handling and seamless usability, supported by technologies that enhance comfort, safety and driver confidence.

• Powertrain and charging: two battery options — 42.2 kWh and 61.0 kWh — delivering an anticipated range of up to 317 km / 448 km (WLTP*). Fast charging enables 10–80% in 29 minutes for standard-range models and 30 minutes for long-range models, with support for 11 kW / 22 kW AC charging
• Drivability and ride comfort: high-output column-type motor driven power steering (C-MDPS) and optimized steering ratio for agile maneuverability in tight streets, with a rear coupled torsion beam axle (CTBA) with hydro bushings to reduce vibration and harshness over bumps
• Interior space and practicality: column-type shift-by-wire (SBW) gear selector frees center-console storage space, while sliding second-row seats, generous headroom and reclining backrests provide flexible passenger comfort
• Safety and driver assistance: upper-segment technologies including FCA 2.0 (Front Collision Avoidance Assist 2.0), HoD (Hands-on Detection), LKA 2 (Lane Keeping Assist 2), HDA 2 (Highway Driving Assist 2) and RSPA (Remote Smart Parking Assist) support safer, more convenient everyday driving
• Visibility and driver confidence: reduced A-pillar width and lower tailgate glass improve the feeling of openness and front-to-rear sightlines
• Seamless EV usability: EV Route Planner, Plug & Charge and V2L/V2G functionality enable an intuitive electrified experience for both daily commuting and weekend activities

Space That Exceeds the Segment

Despite its compact proportions, the EV2 offers interior space comparable to larger vehicles. Sliding and reclining rear seats allow legroom to extend up to 958 mm, while luggage capacity reaches up to 403 liters with the rear seats positioned fully forward. A class-leading front trunk (frunk) further enhances everyday usability.

Details add emotional warmth, including a welcoming “HELLO :)” message when entering the vehicle and a gentle “HAVE A NICE DAY” farewell at the end of a journey.

Everyday convenience is strengthened with a broad suite of connectivity and comfort features, including:

• Personalized digital interfaces and the Kia AI Assistant, delivering a more intuitive, conversational, and user-centric in-car experience
• Digital Key 2 and wireless OTA updates for seamless access and always-up-to-date vehicle functions

Kia Expands Electric Performance with New GT Models

At the Brussels Motor Show, Kia also unveiled the EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT and EV5 GT, expanding its electric performance strategy across multiple segments.

Each model combines dual-motor all-wheel drive, GT-specific chassis tuning and electronically controlled suspension, enhanced by immersive digital features such as virtual gear shift, active sound design and dedicated GT driving modes that coordinate power delivery, steering, displays and lighting.

• EV3 GT delivers compact, confident performance with a 215-kW dual-motor AWD system and electronically controlled suspension, complemented by GT-specific design highlights, semi-bucket seats and ambient lighting.

• EV4 Hatchback GT offers expressive driving dynamics, combining a 215-kW dual-motor AWD setup with performance-oriented tires and 20-inch wheels, while a dedicated GT driving mode, active sound design and Virtual Gear Shift heighten driving engagement.
• EV5 GT brings versatile performance to the C-SUV segment with AWD, enhanced output and GT-specific chassis tuning — including electronically controlled suspension with road-preview function — complimented by GT-exclusive design and interior elements.

Building on Kia’s evolving GT performance philosophy — embodied by electric icons such as the EV6 GT and EV9 GT — the new GT models demonstrate how electrification can elevate driving involvement while maintaining everyday usability.

Production and Launch Timing

Production of the EV2 will begin in the first quarter of 2026 with the standard-range model, followed by long-range and GT Line variants throughout the year. Market launch timings will be announced closer to the start of sales.

The EV3 GT, EV4 Hatchback GT and EV5 GT are scheduled to enter production in the second half of 2026.
