Quick pit work allows factory driver Bortolotti to charge to historic result
Sant’Agata Bolognese/Oschersleben, 26 July 2026 – Mirko Bortolotti and TGI Team by GRT delivered an historic first-ever victory for the Lamborghini Temerario GT3, after a perfectly executed pit strategy in the second race of the weekend at Oschersleben allowed the Italian to move into the lead in the closing minutes.
The result marks a significant milestone in the history of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, which debuted the Temerario GT3 earlier in the year at the Sebring 12 Hours before giving the car its European bow at the opening GT World Challenge Europe round of the year at Paul Ricard in April.
Bortolotti, the 2024 DTM champion, started sixth on the grid for race two – having finished fifth in Saturday’s opening race – but leapt to second place after the first of two mandatory pit-stop windows. The Italian elected to wait until the end of the window before coming in, profited from a battle between the Mercedes of Maro Engel and the ABT Sportsline Lamborghini Temerario GT3 of Luca Engstler.
During the second stint, Bortolotti kept the gap to the leading Porsche under a second before the leaders all pitted at the same time for their second stops. Lightning quick pit-work by the team allowed Bortolotti to leapfrog Thomas Preining and assume the lead of the race.
From there, Bortolotti was able to open up a healthy margin over the chasing Mercedes of Engel in the remaining laps, eventually coming home to claim victory by a margin of 3.027s.
Engstler capped off a strong weekend in the #130 ABT Sportsline Temerario to claim his second top five finish of the weekend, having initially challenged Preining for the lead early on. The German qualified second on the grid for the opening race on Saturday and was one of the few to take the fight to the Porsche.
Having dropped a place to third at the start, more quick pit work from the ABT team enabled Engstler to reclaim second, which he maintained to claim his first podium finish of the season. In race two, Engstler briefly seized the lead from Preining at turn one before slipping back to second. The #130 then dropped to fourth after the first stops and then another place to fifth after the second. Nevertheless, a double top five result showcased the improved pace of the Temerario GT3 throughout the weekend.
