Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe - Silverstone
Sant’Agata Bolognese, 8 May 2019 – The eleventh edition of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe starts at Silverstone. On May 11 and 12, the 5.9 kilometers of the historic English track will host the first of the six double events in the single-brand championship reserved to the cars of the House of Sant'Agata Bolognese. The protagonist will be the new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO with Pirelli tires that debuted last year, featuring extreme aerodynamics and propelled by the 620 CV V10 engine derived from the one that equips the Huracán road car.
The format of the weekend remains unchanged: two races, each lasting 50 minutes, with rolling start and mandatory pit stop. There will also be two practice sessions and the qualifiers, for a total of four hours and 33 minutes on the track.
Also confirmed is the division into the four classes Pro, Pro-Am, Am and Lamborghini Cup, featuring numerous young newcomers but also gentleman of experience on the starting grid. All eyes will be especially on Imperiale Racing, the Modena-based team that will enter two Pro teams. The first is composed of 20-year-old Kikko Galbiati and seasoned driver Vito Postiglione, current runner-up and third in the two previous seasons, as well as winner of the first round of the Sprint series of the Italian Gran Turismo Championship at the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO. Imperiale’s other team is made up of the two Polish drivers Karol Basz and 17-year-old Bartosz Paziewski, who is making his debut in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo.
The Bonaldi Motorsport lineup features Jack Bartholomew, 2018 Middle East champion and runner-up in the Asian series, and newcomer Stuart Middleton (winner of the GT4 title in the 2016 British GT).
Attention will also be on Belgian driver Niels Lagrange, already highlighted in the last two years, who is confirmed by Leipert Motorsport teamed with fellow Belgian Anthony Lambert, 19 years old and making his debut at the championship.
In the Pro-Am class, the veteran Shota Abkhazava and Sergey Afanasiev will be back at the starting line with Artline Team Georgia, who will also deploy a second car for the speedy British driver Steven Liquorish and Thomas Padovani.
Reconfirmed in the Am class are Oliver Freymuth (AKF Motorsport), Raffaele Giannoni (Automobile Tricolore), Nicolas Gomar (AGS Events), and Grzegorz Moczulski, who will share the cockpit of a Huracán Super Trofeo EVO of GT3 Poland with English newcomer Jim Littman. Making its debut, Team Semspeed will present the other two Belgian drivers Benoit and François Semoulin. From the Lamborghini Cup in which he competed last year, Dutchman Hans Fabri will be driving for Imperiale Racing.
The Lamborghini Cup will feature the battle between Gerard Van der Horst, who has won the category title in the last three seasons with Van der Horst Motorsport, and Frenchman Joseph Collado (AGS Events), winner of the 2018 World Final. The MTech team will race two cars for English driver Tim Richards and Thai driver Supachai Weeraborwornpong, the Asian champion in 2016 and 2017.
The weekend program at Silverstone will get underway on Friday 10 May with the two rounds of practice sessions. On Saturday, the qualifying trials will take place starting at 9.40 a.m. and 10.10 a.m. local time, followed by Race 1 which starts at 2.35 p.m. On Sunday, Race 2 starts at 11.10 a.m. local time. Both races will be live-streamed on Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s Facebook page, Instagram account, YouTube channel and Motorsport.tv.
