SEOUL, South Korea, June 30, 2025 – NEXEN TIRE, a leading global tire manufacturer, has published its 2024/25 Sustainability Report, reaffirming its commitment to transparent ESG disclosure aligned with international standards. For the first time, the report integrates consolidated performance metrics from 10 global subsidiaries, marking a significant advancement in enterprise-wide sustainability reporting.

In the environmental domain, NEXEN TIRE has strengthened its carbon management strategy by broadening the scope and accuracy of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions tracking. The company completed a third-party verified inventory covering Scope 1 (direct emissions) through all 15 categories under Scope 3, capturing indirect emissions throughout its value chain. This data-driven approach enables NEXEN TIRE to identify high-impact areas and implement targeted carbon reduction strategies.

Furthering its commitment to the green transition in mobility, the company accelerated the development of sustainable raw materials. It is currently evaluating 23 renewable and recycled materials types across 10 categories and has developed proprietary technology to produce tires containing up to 70% sustainable content.

NEXEN TIRE also expanded its efforts in biodiversity and nature-related risk management. In line with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and LEAP (Locate, Evaluate, Access, Prepare) frameworks, the company assessed physical risks across its operational sites and conducted a details ecological survey around its Changnyeong plant, including the identification of protected zones and endangered species habitats within a 50-kilometer radius.

On the social front, NEXEN TIRE achieved a major milestone in occupational safety, recording 10 consecutive years without a single workplace accident. The company attributes this to proactive investments in facility upgrades, risk assessments, and 24-hours disaster monitoring systems. Enhanced fire prevention infrastructure – such as flame detectors, emergency broadcasting, and fire shutters – has further minimized operational risk. These efforts were recognized with the Excellence Award in the Large Enterprise category at the 1st Safety Culture Innovation Awards, hosted by the Korea Enterprises Federation.

To reinforce corporate governance, NEXEN TIRE appointed a new female independent director, enhancing both gender and professional diversity on its board. With 62.5% of directors now independent, the company upholds a robust governance structure that support responsible decision-making. In the area of information safety, the company expanded its TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange) certification to eight sites, including its Yangsan and Changnyeong plants, while maintaining zero personal data breaches for the third consecutive year.

“As the industry undergoes rapid transformation driven by electrification, AI, and sustainability, NEXEN TIRE is embracing ESG leadership as a core pillar of future competitiveness,” said John Bosco (Hyeon Suk) Kim, CEO of NEXEN TIRE. “Our commitment to responsible innovation and transparency will guide us through the next era of sustainable mobility.”
