The Knot, the #1 online wedding resource and mobile app, celebrated Valentine's Day with a Champagne toast to love and by breaking the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® record for World's Largest Champagne Tasting on Thursday, February 12, 2015. 518 attendees gathered to taste three varieties of Champagne, followed by a toast from Bravo's Million Dollar Listing New York newly engaged star Ryan Serhant and fiancée Emilia Bechrakis.
"In the 18 years since The Knot launched, we helped inspire approximately 25 million couples during their wedding planning process," said Dhanusha Sivajee, executive vice president of marketing at The Knot. "To celebrate this milestone and Valentine's Day, we invited everyone who loves love, including many of the couples we serve today and throughout our 18-year history, to raise a glass and break a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® record for the World's Largest Champagne Tasting."
The 518 attendees included engaged couples, married couples who have used The Knot to help plan their weddings, New York City tech start-ups, members of the Downtown Alliance and all those who wanted to be a part of a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® official attempt to celebrate love.
The record-breaking event was held in the newly unveiled Fulton Center, an iconic backdrop in lower Manhattan. As one of the original "Silicon Alley" tech start-ups, The Knot plans to continue celebrating Valentine's Day with love letters to New York City. Inspirational quotes about love by great thinkers, playful poets and artists, from Maya Angelou and Voltaire to Plato and Dr. Seuss, will be written in sidewalk chalk throughout the five boroughs during the month of February.
