The European Parliament, with strong EPP Group backing, is pushing to triple the budget for the highly successful Erasmus+ Programme to fund more projects and provide free Interrail tickets for the young. “Millions of Europeans have benefited from Erasmus for international education, vocational training and other programmes”, says Milan Zver, the EPP Group’s Spokesman on Erasmus. Sabine Verheyen, the EPP Group’s Spokeswoman on education, says the tripling of the Erasmus budget is crucial because it would allow funding for 60% of qualifying projects, compared to the current 20%. DiscoverEU activities include the new free Interrail programme for Europeans turning 18, spearheaded by EPP Group Chairman Manfred Weber.
