Updated travel guidance and advice by WHO

Release Date: 02 Jul 2021   |   Geneva , Switzerland

MEDIA ADVISORY

WHO issued updated guidance today on ‘Considerations for implementing a risk-based approach to international travel in the context of COVID-19’ alongside a document that summarizes the policy considerations for national authorities, and updated the Q&A on travel advice for the general public (date of new update noted at bottom of web page).

WHO has updated its travel guidance to take into account new developments, including the spread of Variants of Concern and growing numbers of people who have had vaccination or previous infection.

Although there is no zero risk, travel measures can play a role in reducing the spread of COVID-19.

Countries should continue to apply a risk-based approach when implementing measures related to international travel, while respecting the dignity, human rights and fundamental freedoms of travellers.
