Watch, Read, Download - In-Depth Coverage of the IMF Spring Meeting 2021

The 2021 IMF Spring Meeting is being held virtually between March 30th-April 15th this year. During this period thenewsmarket.com will be featuring news stories and content from this global event, plus copyright-free videos and images for use by media.

Compared to a year ago, when the IMF issued a bleak outlook for the global economy due to the pandemic, we can expect guarded optimism. As part of an event curtain raiser speech to the Council on Foreign Relations, the IMF’s Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, has already announced that the Fund projects an upgrade to January’s global growth prediction of 5.5 percent in 2021.

"Progress in ending the health crisis could add almost nine trillion dollars to global GDP by 2025. But the window of opportunity is closing fast, the longer it takes to speed up vaccine production and roll out, the harder it will be to achieve these gains,” said Georgieva.

Here are some of the upcoming highlights of this week:-

Monday April 5th, a discussion called 'Vaccinating the World', featuring Aurélia Nguyen, Managing Director of the Office of the COVAX Facility and Sabina Bhatia, Deputy Secretary, IMF (1300-1330 EST).

On Tuesday April 6th, the IMF's World Economic Outlook will be revealed (0830-0930 EST).

On Wednesday, April 7th, IMF MD Kristalina Georgieva will be joined by the U.S. Climate Envoy, John Kerry. The debate will be hosted by CNN International's Becky Anderson (1300-1345 EST).

On Thursday, April 8th, there will be a debate on the global economy, featuring Georgieva, Jerome Powell, Chair, Federal Reserve, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General, WTO and Paschal Donohoe, Finance Minister, Ireland (1200-1245 EST).
