WHO virtual press conference to launch 2020 Global Tuberculosis Report
WHO is releasing the 2020 edition of its Global Tuberculosis (TB) Report on 14 October. The report features data on disease trends and the response to the epidemic in 198 countries and territories. It provides a comprehensive and up-to-date assessment of the TB epidemic and progress in the response at global, regional and country levels.
TB remains the top infectious killer in the world, claiming close to 4000 lives a day. This year’s report presents progress towards targets set at the first-ever United Nations General Assembly high-level meeting on TB in 2018 as well as the targets of the WHO End TB Strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals. The report complements and expands the UN Secretary-General’s 2020 progress report on TB, also published in October.
