Las Vegas Host Committee Kicks Off National Travel and Tourism Week 2019

Release Date: 07 May 2019   |   Las Vegas, Nev.
LAS VEGAS -- TRAVEL MATTERS! That’s the theme for U.S. Travel Association’s National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) 2019, and a message Las Vegas is proud to support. Local celebrations for the observance began on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, with a special award presentation to the employees of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) serving at McCarran International Airport.

In 2018, Las Vegas welcomed an astonishing 42.1 million visitors. This volume of travel activity supported nearly 383,000 jobs in Southern Nevada, which represented nearly 40 percent of the total workforce and generated nearly $60 billion in economic impact.

To celebrate the industry and the incredible people who work to maintain Las Vegas’ reputation as a leading travel destination, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) held an event honoring the more than 1,000 TSA employees at McCarran International Airport.  During the event, Las Vegas Host Committee Chairman and former Mayor of Las Vegas, Oscar Goodman, delivered remarks and present TSA representatives with a Service Dedication Award.

TSA employees also received a commemorative Hospitality Hero lapel pin and were invited to enjoy an appreciation celebration featuring an appearance by the Las Vegas Lights FC Mascot, Cash; themed desserts crafted by The Cookie Bar; a photo booth and more.
